Dog health questions?

1st time momma asked:
Ok, 2 questions for you guys
Ok, 2 questions for you guys
1-Zoey seems to have a bald spot on her front leg, around the “elbow”. Its not too big, maybe be the size of a dime if it was perfectly round. It doesn’t seem to be a hot spot, just bald and the skin is somewhat flaky around it. Any ideas as to what it could be?
2- Her nose had a bump, like a swelling from bite. The puppy and her got pretty rough yesterday and I’m wondering if this is what it’s from. It has gone down, but could it be something else?
She eats canidae, so I’m not sure if it’s the food or not.
She’s 9 months old.
Neither seem to bother her, she doesn’t scratch or lick or anything.
But I’d rather be safe than sorry!
Not RW, she’s on HW meds and they kill RW too.

The bump is most likely just some rough housing, if it doesn’t start to heal though.. Might be worth looking into. Def not deathly serious.. That’s for sure. If it’s a cut or scrape.. Maybe try rubbing a little neosporin on it. (Not a lot cause they will lick it off.. but what’s left will still help… and no what they lick off.. Won’t hurt them).
1.. I’m not sure what it could be. How old is Zoey? It could be signs of old age, or it could be problem with her joints. This might be worth consulting a vet about. It’s obviously not going to be urgent.. but might be good to know.
she could have fleas or she could just have dry skin. has she been itching as for the bump i would call your vet on that one and ask them does it seem to be bothering her. she may have gotten bitten by a bug or maybe stung by a bee keep a eye on it
Sorry but as too question 2 i have no idea what that is, but as for the first question, its called stud-tail, funny name as sometimes its not on the tail, but anywho, my dog has it ironically on his tail, but its nothing to worry about, however i would get the nose checked ot by a vet.
1: I think it is probably fine, a lot of dogs have it. It’s probably nothing to be super concerned about. There’s a thing that horses and dogs have on their legs (I think it’s called a chestnut or something) that sounds like it could be what you’re talking about. If I were you I’d just ask the vet to be sure next time you are there.
2: Probably nothing to worry about. Just watch it. If it grows or changes color, I’d take her to the vet. But if it keeps going down I wouldn’t worry too much. Again, just ask the vet next time you are there if it doesn’t go away completely but doesn’t get any worse.
Hello Randee
it’s a pressure sore (100% positive)
1. this is a common spot for a common problem
2. if it’s gone, ignore it, perhaps write yourself a little note when/if it comes back
Have a great w/e
The bald spot could just be from laying on a hard surface excessively. Do you have hard wood floors? We used to have a client whose dog always had bald elbows from laying on a hard floor..
Not sure about the bump…

The leg thing sounds like a spot of ringworm - you can treat it with miconazole, which is found in Lotrimin - either in the foot powder section or feminine needs section of the drugstore.
Ringworm is a fungus, not a worm, and it spreads fast!
If you are near a tack shop or a feed store, you may also find Microtek shampoo and spray for this, as well - or for shampoo, you can use Head & Shoulders. Wash any brushes you have used on her in the last several days in the shampoo, and let it sit. Change and wash any dog bed covers, as well.
DO NOT put any ointment of any kind other than the fungus medicine on it (like neosporin) or it will spread it around.
Make sure you rub it in WELL, and put an e-collar on her - you don’t want her licking that.
Hard to say about the nose - but with the other, you certainly need to watch it. If it’s swollen, you could apply a warm compress to increase the circulation so it’ll heal faster.
