Can anyone please tell me what is recommended for a dog’s dental health each year?

Stealth asked:
I went into a new Vet today to check it out, and they had a sign that said: “February is Dental Month”. So I went in to ask what would my dog who is soon turning three need. The receptionist was very unfriendly and she said that I have to have an appointment with the Vet and the Vet will tell me… for $50! I asked what their sign was all about… figuring they at least had some facts about dental health in dogs. I planned on getting his teeth cleaned at that Vet’s office but I got bad vibes there. Anyway, I just wanted to know, what do I bring my dog in for at 3 years old? A full dental? Or a scaling? Can anyone give me any ideas please?
Yeah Jorge, that’s what I felt also, that there was no way they were touching my dog if they showed no compassion at all.

I’d recommend going to adifferent vet based on your recent experience . Check the Better Business Bureau online for any complaints against them first . Then go in and ask the same questions as before . If they can’t show you decent manners or cordialty then they DEFINITELY don’t need to be touching your dog.
A raw MEATY bone each day, or about 5 days a week is natures way of cleaning/flossing the teeth, massaging and stimulating the gums and is the best for total mouthcare in dogs.
Bones clean the mouth in dogs and also clean the breath.
Check your dogs mouth for no loose or rotting teeth before you give any bones.
Yes the vets can clean and scale but I would never take my dog in for that, after a few weeks of raw bones you will see the difference.
Also if the gums are red or inflamed give a raw bone every few days instead of each day, just to allow the gums to heal.
Good Luck.
